CONGRATULATIONS LITTLE GUY, YOU WILL NEVER BE LEFT BEHIND ANYMORE :O) This little guy is a Cairn Terrier mix who was "left behind" by his owners and ended up in a municipal shelter in Kentucky. Luckily for him a nice rescue group reached out to the HVHS and we committed to taking him to safety. "Leftie" will arrive at the HVHS on Sat., Sept. 6th.

Awesome girl! Maggie Sue is another rescue from a municipal shelter in the south. Hound Mix approximately 35-40#, beautiful markings. She is good with male dogs and most females. She loves to spend her time running around the play yards at our headquarters. Perhaps best in a home without cats! This is a young dog 14-16 months.

- Age: Adult
- Breed: Border Collie
WAY-TO-GO WAYLON!!! YOU HAVE BEEN ADOPTED.
Another dog rescued from euthanasia in a municipal shelter ... meet Waylon. He is a petite Border Collie and cute as can be. Waylon arrived at our facility Sept. 27. He is heartworm positive and started treatment last week and is doing really well. Treatment is ongoing and the HVHS and not the first HW+ dog we have treated and then adopted from Kentucky. This boy is super sweet and he had a bubble bath upon arrival -- just loved it!

A KENNEL FAVORITE FOR SURE. LITTLE BIXBY HAS A FENCED IN YARD, A BIG BEAGLE BROTHER AND A MOM WHO JUST ADORES HIM. WHAT MORE COULD A GUY ASK FOR? CONGRATS BIXBY WE JUST LOVE YOU! Rescued from a municipal shelter in Kentucky where they have a high euthanasia rate. Fortunately for this cutie that was avoided and he came to NY and the HVHS on September 6th. Bixby was neutered today (9/12/14) and he had teeth extracted. It seems he was kept in a crate most of his life and was chewing at the bars. When dogs do this they unnaturally grind down their teeth. Often the teeth break and in his case, nerves were exposed (poor baby). I hate dental problems and can't imagine what this guy felt every day. This guy is a real sweetie pie!

- Age: <2 years old
- Breed: Lhasa Mix
Charcoal colored Lhasa mix rescue from Texas! This dog was badly matted and had to be shaved. He was just adopted by a previous adopter (yes she adopted that adorable Westie mix from us a few years ago too!). It's really great when our adopters have a wonderful experience and come back to expand their families. Congratulations to Evelyn, Little Richie and we await the name of your new pup.

"Cinnamon" came to the HVHS through a cruelty seizure in Feb. 2014. Her owner was arrested under the NYS Agriculture and Markets laws, Article 26, Section 353 for "Failing to Provide Proper Sustenance". That means in the most basic terms: proper food, water, shelter. The pictures of this dog at her original home were beyond sad; so sad they will never be posted here. She was tethered in the yard and the dog could only defecate as far away as the chain would permit. She was smart enough to do so at the perimeter which seemed to have not been cleaned for months. This dog was also loaded with intestinal parasites and grossly underweight. Plus she had no shelter from the weather (which if you recall we had a brutal winter). One of our volunteers immediately connected with her and renamed this girl "Cinnamon". Look at her now, 5 months later she is healthy and enjoying life. Cinnamon was just officially adopted this week and now has a lovely couple who adore her and a big brother named "Blue".
Special thanks to the Spring Valley Police Department and our HLE Agents Raheb and Gaudio who handled the case. Congratulations to Cinnamon, you now have the life every dog deserves.
